Baby Stars would be a perfect project to make for your own expected arrival, or as a gift for a friend or relative.
This little quilt finishes 40” square. You could choose bright colours or pastels, depending on your taste, and that of the new parents.
The instructions contain plenty of extra details for both the patchwork and the quilting, so even if you are relatively new to making quilts, this would be an easy project for you to build confidence.
The stars are made from Flying Geese units, a popular component of other patchwork blocks and designs. More details can be seen in Skilful Skyful Part 3. Links are provided to videos which show all the main techniques.
Note that although it would be perfectly safe to lay this on the floor for a baby to play on, you should check with the most up-to-date safety advice before using any quilt in a cot with a young baby.
